Gothic in Brodnica

Chelminska Gate

Called also the Stone Gate, was built in the years 1310-1340 and 1370. Renovated in 1898, 1977, 1985. In the 19th century used as prison. Since 1973 it has been the place of local museum's exhibitions. It has 3 floors, built on the base of a square.

St. Catherine's Parish Church

The first part of it was built in the years 1285 - 1320, the other parts - in 1340 - 1370, and the tower around 1484. Damaged in 1631 and 1655, the church was renovated in the years 1772, 1867, 1907, 1927 and 1972 - 1976. Made of brick, with 3 naves and pre-planned facade of 2 towers - finally, only one tower was built. Inside, typical star  and cross-rib vaults of gothic architecture. The interior contains remains of gothic, rennaissance and baroque polichromy and sculptures of the 12 Apostles from the 2nd part of the 14th century.
